This post is for Young Entrepreneurs, by young you could be in your teens, twenties, thirties…These are some tips I have learned from my journey since 2011 until April 2013 (today).
1. Don’t Compare Yourself- For some reason, sometimes I think I’m “behind”. I don’t know why I think this, because I am 25. 25 is not that old, I mean, that’s when you start living life right? If you are in your twenties, don’t compare yourself.
Everyone has a DIFFERENT AND UNIQUE PATH.
Everyone has a story that is worth telling. Your STORY is part of your business and your entrepreneurial journey.
Let YOUR Authentic and NATURAL self breathe, LET you transcend every inch of you and surrounding you. Don’t feel the pressure to be like others, to succeed in the same way that others are….BREATHE and hear the authentic voice within you.
2. Do Go For Your Dreams, NOT immediate satisfaction- IT is always easier to take the conventional path.
I can’t tell you how many people I have talked to that settled for the easy path. Comfort leads to complacency. I have overcome mental torment, undeniable stress, self discoveries and barriers that I can’t begin to explain to you. Since jumping off the full time job wagon, I have continued to jump deeper and deeper into the ocean, to the unknown. It’s almost like I have scuba dived farther into the ocean.
Example– getting rid of my old dusty car in exchange for leasing a car. Risky? Yes, uncomfortable, yes. But rewarding? Yes. I actually went home and cried because I was not sure if I could afford it, but something in me told me- you deserve it and you need to invest in your business.
Example– when I moved out on my own as a self-employed maven. Risky? Yes, uncomfortable, yes. But rewarding? Yes. I decided to live on my own, without roommates- because I realized the potential peace of mind I would have being able to work hard without distractions.
Example- when I branched out and began my career in Real Estate. Risky? Yes, uncomfortable, yes. But rewarding? Yes…I know I will get to a point where I know….all my HARD WORK has paid off.
Whatever you SOW, you REAP.
SOW LOVE, REAP LOVE.
SOW JOY, REAP JOY.
SOW HARD WORK, REAP THE REWARD.
3. Be patient, it’s WHO you become in the journey…..not just the end result.
It is all about WHO you become. Don’t forget this.
4. Learn To Let Go
You work really hard? Do you hit a wall and you keep working hard and don’t see the results?
Let go. Learn to have fun at times. Learn to let go of your internet, phones….learn to have a safe place to rest. For me, it’s going to that $10 korean spa in Ktown. It’s allowing physical tension from work to be burned away from a hot jacuzzi and sauna. It’s relieving stress- this is KEY. It’s running, biking down the street, going for a walk, getting ice cream and coffee to reward a day of hard work. It’s holding hands with your partner, watching a movie and NOT thinking about work.
5. OUTSOURCE
Believe it or not, as a YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR you must REALIZE that OUTSOURCING is key.
Can you create your own blog, website, mail packages, type, call, drive, create, write, all in one day?
Yes, can you design, pay bills, clean the house, take photos too? Yep. But why do it if SOMEONE else can do it better?
Let someone else do what they specialize in. Let YOU do what YOU specialize in.
What are you EXCELLENT in? Do that. Let go and outsource work to those that are better than you at what they do. The time and energy you save….and the excellent work they produce will create even more income for you. You will have more energy to do what you are great at, and from their work, you can produce more income to invest in what you love to do more of.
Example: I hate taking photos of products. I really do, I have no patience for it. I simply found someone who needed more work experience and hired them to take photos. Did I save a lot of energy and time, yes. I saved mental work and I was able to use those photos to repost my products on Ebay (no additional work once posted…you can keep reposting: IF you need help on selling on Ebay, I can get you set up in less than 2 hours, email me at rebekkalien@gmail.com for coaching details).
6. Most of Your Work Is Mental- THUS delete all people in your life that creates mental headache. Trust me. You will SAVE so much energy that you can be using towards your work. NO- DO NOT think about just saving money or budgeting for your business.
HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT ABOUT THE THINGS IN YOUR DAY TO DAY LIFE that HINDERS your emotional and mental positivity and well-being?
Seriously.
Is it people around you? Systems and programs that don’t work? Your work environment? Toxic people? Toxic work space? Lack of rest and health? What is it?
Write it down and eliminate that which distracts from dedicating yourself to your passion.
