Your Decisions Form Your Life Course

As I sat on a bench outside observing people walking by, the way people dressed and walked, their frowns and grins, I started to analyze and read each one of them. I wondered what they were thinking and whether their mindset about their own identity created their life circumstances. Whatever they chose, they ended up with. Though of course, life is unfair, life does not give each one of us fair dealings when we are first born and even the way we grow up. However, we are each given choice, a choice to be someone different. At any point in our lives, we can choose to buy a ticket to Europe and backpack for a year. At any point in our lives, we can choose to start a business or settle down with a partner. At any point in our lives we can choose to continue living a irresponsible lifestyle (whatever that means to you). At any point, at a few clicks of a button we can create a blog and write about our lives, perhaps creating a community for others like you. At any point, in all points of our lives, we make small and big decisions which determine and steer the directions of our lives.

This week, I started a fiscal fast which required me to not spend any money, besides for groceries and gas. However, I have also committed myself to walking more instead of driving. This is the bridge I live near in Pasadena. As I go on my daily walks, I am amazed by the revelations that hit my brainwaves. These cars represent the many lives and minds that refuse to stop and listen to the small voice that speaks to us each day. Whether you call it intuition, spirit or God, or even yourself sometimes….the voice allows us to find peace and to decipher what we are feeling each moment of our lives.

We rush and find ourself important in being busy. We push aside people who truly care about us for the act of feeling important, yet never stopping to listen to our hearts which is often tired, confused, angry, bitter, sad.

What are you feeling today?

Ask yourself this and ask yourself why, then let the positive energy which speaks goodness over you soak into your whole being.

Throw off any negative hindrances right now.

“Now, let us go back to the starting point, and become informed as to how the original seed of an idea, plan, or purpose may be planted in the mind. The information is easily conveyed: any idea, plan, or purpose may be placed in the mindthrough repetition of thought. This is why you are asked to write out a statement of your major purpose, or Definite Chief Aim, commit it to memory, and repeat it, in audible words, day after day, until these vibrations of sound have reached your subconscious mind.

We are what we are, because of the vibrations of thought which we pick up and register, through the stimuli of our daily environment.

Resolve to throw off the influences of any unfortunate environment, and to build your own life to ORDER. Taking inventory of mental assets and liabilities, you will discover that your greatest weakness is lack of self-confidence. This handicap can be surmounted, and timidity translated into courage, through the aid of the principle of autosuggestion. The application of this principle may be made through a simple arrangement of positive thought impulses stated in writing, memorized, and repeated, until they become a part of the working equipment of the subconscious faculty of your mind.”- Napoleon Hill (Think and Grow Rich).

Your Mindset Shapes Your Reality

Yesterday I had an epiphany, I wanted to dig deeper into why I had this hovering fear. I came into the conclusion that underneath it all, there was this fear that “I am not enough”.

I strongly believe that we, underneath the outer material appearances, long to fulfill this question “am I worth it?” As human beings, we long for this existential peace which we think we can attain by:

1. Doing more, because then people will see I’m worth it

2. Earning more, because then we can buy the things that will show that we are worth it

3. Rebelling to the point of being on the brink of being hated by many- this is also a method in which we can portray our worth to others, by trying REALLY hard to be different, and essentially not being who we really are.

I can go on to list how we manifest our reality with our mindsets. We must be aware that there are mindsets that will lead us to emptiness. Here are a few:

1. The spirit of poverty and a mindset that there is scarcity in the world– this leads us to compete with others, even in the mind. As we compare ourselves to those that are more successful, we are believing in the lie that we are NOT ENOUGH.

2. The belief that we are really all the same and that we must conform in order to win– this is also fatal as usually the unique stand out in the market, not the conformists.

Perhaps we can replace our negative mindsets with:

1. I am destined for a unique destiny

2. I am loved and fated to change history

3. I am a world shaker

4. My life is my responsibility, I should only focus on my life and what my destiny calls me to do, versus trying to figure out what other people are doing and imitating it. There’s only one of you, so make sure you are not trying to be someone else.

A hunger for the good life lies deep within us all. But it requires an honest evaluation of who we are and how we are living. Some manage to avoid these hard questions for years, or even for a whole lifetime- diligently going with each year’s flow without pausing to imagine other possible destinations. With the passing of years, our childhood dreams are pierced by reality. Our daily lives are filled with obligations and pressures. As we grow older, we drift away from ‘what could be’ toward a life shaped not by personal vision or calling but by circumstance and compromise”- Life Entrepreneur

An Exerpt From A To Be Published Book In The Future….By Me When I quit my full time job:

“The common question was “how are you going to pay rent?” This question would constantly pop up in my mind throughout the year.

Now I realize that question was never mine, but the naysayers, the doubters. That question will never be mine. I will always be able to pay rent. Nothing I did made sense. It still doesn’t. One thing that I started doing more was listening to the spirit, the creator, a higher being. I took time to meditate and slow down. The meditations caused me to focus on what I felt and what I wanted in life.

When I quit work and had a goodbye party, I thought to myself, “Instead of continuing this ugly and painful rat race, why don’t I do what I’ve been yearning for all this time?”

Dear Oprah

Dear Oprah,

I saw a picture of you on Facebook today. You looked totally normal in your PJs. Oprah, I’m turning 25 soon. In a few days and I just wanted to let you know, it won’t be long until I come face to face with you. You don’t know me yet, but it’s okay.

Happy Birthday Oprah.

I always imagined myself on your show, will I be able to say anything worth saying? Well, I’m glad there are people like you alive. When I was 14, I kept looking at these young adults and muttered under my being “NEVER! Never will I become boring”. To be honest, there are times I feel utterly bored.

I wonder why people do the same things over and over again, vacations are so commercialized and there is not enough Groupon deals to pique our interest.

I know this sounds weird, but I want to dress up as a clown and run down the street on my birthday. Maybe I’ll act insane and scare people. People are so mild, I want people to be alive, angry, happy….something other than just boring. It scares me. Oprah, promise me that you’ll meet with me. I’m sure it’ll happen sooner or later.

I think deep down, I’m not just human. I’m actually a queen of a special land. It’s an amazing place where jewels grow on trees and you can snorkel without gravity. Meaning the river runs up, so on top of you, you see people snorkeling in the sky. Plus everything is iridescent and you don’t ever have to think about whether you are contributing to the world.

As you grow up, it’s so easy to get discouraged because you don’t see the change…whether it is in your career or in the world. Hate and evil still prevails in the news. Oprah, I’m glad I have a role model, otherwise I would result to the news for my daily juice.

Today I realize that I am truly changing!

I made the decision to admit fault and to take responsibility for my own mood swings and emotions, instead of blaming other people. I think that is what it means to be a responsible adult. It does not have to look boring- adulthood.

I am still that 14 year old, I still like dolls, collectible ones and I still believe that I can live a free lifestyle…I don’t believe in sitting on my butt 24/7. Dear Oprah, keep writing those newsletters. I promise I’ll be on your magazine “O”. I can’t afford to pay for your magazine right now, but I got a free trial. I started life coaching and gain my inspiration from you.

Love, Rebekka

Your apprentice.
